Who's Playing

South Florida @ Tulane

Current Records: South Florida 5-8; Tulane 5-7

What to Know

The Tulane Green Wave and the South Florida Bulls are even-steven against one another since January of 2016 (5-5), but not for long. Tulane and the Bulls will face off in an American Athletic battle at 4 p.m. ET Saturday at Fogelman Arena in Devlin Fieldhouse. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Tulane came up short against the East Carolina Pirates on Wednesday, falling 88-80. Tulane's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of forward Kevin Cross, who posted a double-double on 17 points and 11 boards, and guard Jaylen Forbes, who shot 6-for-13 from downtown and finished with 24 points and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, South Florida ended up a good deal behind the Houston Cougars when they played on Wednesday, losing 83-66. Guard Caleb Murphy wasn't much of a difference maker for South Florida; Murphy played for 32 minutes but put up just nine points.

The Green Wave are the favorite in this one, with an expected 6.5-point margin of victory. But bettors beware: they are only 2-4 against the spread when favored.

The losses put Tulane at 5-7 and the Bulls at 5-8. A pair of stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: Tulane is 53rd worst in college basketball in points allowed per game, with 73.8 on average. South Florida has experienced some struggles of their own as they are stumbling into the contest with the 354th fewest points per game in college basketball, having accrued only 57.5 on average. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
