What to Know

The Virginia Cavaliers and the Virginia Tech Hokies will face off in an ACC clash at 7 p.m. ET Feb. 14 at Cassell Coliseum. If the game is anything like their last meeting in January, where the Cavaliers won 54-52, we could be in for a big score.

Virginia was able to grind out a solid win over the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets this past Saturday, winning 63-53. Forward Jayden Gardner took over for Virginia, finishing with 26 points (a whopping 41% of their total) along with seven boards and three blocks.

Meanwhile, the Syracuse Orange typically have all the answers at home, but this past Saturday Virginia Tech proved too difficult a challenge. Virginia Tech strolled past 'Cuse with points to spare, taking the game 71-59. The Hokies can attribute much of their success to forward Justyn Mutts, who posted a triple-double on 14 rebounds, 12 points, and 11 assists, and forward Keve Aluma, who had 20 points in addition to five rebounds. Mutts hadn't helped his team much against the Pittsburgh Panthers last Monday, so this was a nice turnaround for him.

The Cavaliers are expected to lose this next one by 4.5. They might be worth taking a chance on against the spread, however, as they are currently on a four-game streak of ATS wins.

The wins brought Virginia up to 16-9 and Virginia Tech to 15-10. A pair of defensive numbers to keep in mind before tip-off: Virginia enters the matchup with only 59.6 points allowed per game on average, good for ninth best in college basketball. Virginia Tech is not quite as good, but they are no chumps, either: they rank 21st in college basketball when it comes to points allowed per game, with only 61.9 on average.
