Ball State will be in front of their home fans on Saturday, but a look at the spread shows they might need that home-field advantage. They will take on the Central Michigan Chippewas at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday. Ball State is limping into the match on a four-game losing streak.
While it was all tied up 3-3 at halftime, Ball State was not quite Toledo's equal in the second half on Saturday. Ball State fell 13-6 to Toledo.
Meanwhile, Central Michigan gave up the first points last Saturday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 17-10 win over Akron. The victory was just what Central Michigan needed coming off of a 37-13 loss in their prior matchup.
Nobody from Central Michigan had a standout game, but they got scores from Jase Bauer and Myles Bailey.
Ball State has traveled a rocky road this season, as they've lost six of their first seven matchups, which leaves them at a 1-6 record this season. As for Central Michigan, their victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 4-3.
While only Central Michigan took care of their fans the last time they played, neither team managed to cover. Looking forward, Central Michigan is the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by four points. This contest will be Ball State's fifth straight as the underdogs (so far over this stretch they are 1-3 against the spread).
Ball State barely slipped by Central Michigan in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, winning 17-16. Does Ball State have another victory up their sleeve, or will Central Michigan turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
