Baylor vs. Iowa State: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAA Football game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Baylor vs. Iowa State football game
The Iowa State Cyclones and the Baylor Bears are even-steven against one another since October of 2015 (3-3), but not for long. Iowa State and the Bears will face off in a Big 12 battle at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday at McLane Stadium. Both teams are strolling into their matchup after big wins in their previous games.
When you finish with 358 more yards than your opponent like Iowa State did last week, a favorable outcome is almost sure to follow. They claimed a resounding 48-3 victory over the UNLV Rebels on the road. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 24 to nothing. The Cyclones relied on the efforts of QB Brock Purdy, who passed for three TDs and 288 yards on 24 attempts in addition to picking up 33 yards on the ground, and WR Xavier Hutchinson, who caught ten passes for two TDs and 133 yards. Purdy hadn't helped his team much against the Iowa Hawkeyes two weeks ago, so this was a nice turnaround for him.
Meanwhile, the Bears were no strangers to outgunning their opponent yards-wise, either, with 576 yards compared to the Kansas Jayhawks' 166 last week. Baylor was fully in charge, breezing past the Jayhawks 45-7 on the road. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Baylor had established a 28-7 advantage. Baylor QB Gerry Bohanon was slinging it as he passed for two TDs and 269 yards on 23 attempts in addition to rushing for one TD and 33 yards. Bohanon's 69-yard touchdown toss to WR R.J. Sneed in the third quarter made for one of the most memorable moments of the afternoon.
The wins brought the Cyclones up to 2-1 and Baylor to 3-0. A pair of stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: Iowa State is 159th worst in the nation in thrown interceptions, having thrown three on the season. To make matters even worse for Iowa State, Baylor hasn't thrown an interception yet this season. Iowa State's sloppiness could come back to bite them.
