The S. Dakota St. Jackrabbits had enough points to win and then some against the Colorado State Rams on Friday, taking their matchup 42-23.
The Jackrabbits started the contest off right with 21 first-half points. Colorado State countered with 10 points. The offense for S. Dakota St. continued to do well in the second half, scoring another 21 points to put the game away.
RB Pierre Strong Jr. had a stellar game for S. Dakota St. as he rushed for two TDs and 138 yards on 13 carries. QB Chris Oladokun had a good game, too, finishing with three touchdowns.
The losing side was boosted by QB Todd Centeio, who passed for one TD and 316 yards on 43 attempts. The game brought S. Dakota St. to 1-0 and dropped Colorado State to a mirror-image 0-1.
The Jackrabbits will take on the Lindenwood Lions at 7 p.m. ET next week at Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium. The Rams have the luxury of staying home another week and will welcome the Vanderbilt Commodores at 10 p.m. ET Sept. 11 at Canvas Stadium.
