Live scores, highlights and updates from the East Carolina vs. Charleston Southern football game
Game Recap
The East Carolina Pirates came out on top in a nail-biter against the Charleston Southern Buccaneers on Saturday, sneaking past 31-28. The victory came about thanks to a strong surge after the first quarter to overcome a 14 to nothing deficit.
After a totally unproductive first quarter, the East Carolina offense stepped up its game and put 24 points on the board in the second quarter. Charleston Southern countered with 14 points. The Pirates coasted a bit in the second half, relying primarily on their first half lead, but they still walked away with the win.
The win got East Carolina back to even at 2-2. The Buccaneers' loss pushed them down to 1-2.
East Carolina has the luxury of staying home another week and will welcome the Tulane Green Wave at 3:30 p.m. ET Oct. 2 at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium. Unlike East Carolina, Tulane will be limping in after taking a loss. Charleston Southern can take some time to mend their wounds since their next game isn't for a while. They will face the Robert Morris Colonials at Joe Walton Stadium at 3 p.m. ET in two weeks.
