FIU vs. Jacksonville State: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Friday's NCAAF game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the FIU vs. Jacksonville State football game
Game Recap
The FIU Panthers came up short against the Jacksonville State Gamecocks on Friday, falling 19-10. What made the defeat an especially bitter pill for the Panthers to swallow was that they had been favored by 10 points coming into the game.
RB Josh Samuel was the offensive standout of the contest for Jacksonville State, rushing for one TD and 163 yards on 25 carries. Jacksonville State also got a significant boost from RB Uriah West, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 116 yards.
Most of the squad's points came courtesy of special teams, which contributed 13. K Alen Karajic delivered a perfect 4-for-4 game.
No one had a standout game offensively for the Panthers, but they got one touchdown from WR Nate Jefferson.
FIU's overall record fell to 0-1. Jacksonville State's win brought them up to 2-1.
FIU has the luxury of staying at home another week and will welcome the Marshall Thundering Herd at 7 p.m. ET Oct. 30 at Riccardo Silva Stadium. Marshall also experienced difficulties finding the end zone in their matchup last week, so look for the defenses to decide this one. The Gamecocks are on the road again in 17 weeks and play against the Tennessee State Tigers at 1 p.m. ET Feb. 21 at Nissan Stadium.
