Georgia State vs. App. State updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Georgia State vs. Appalachian State football game
App. State is 8-0 against Georgia State since October of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The App. State Mountaineers will head out on the road to face off against the Georgia State Panthers at 2:00 p.m. ET at Center Parc Stadium. Georgia State took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on App. State, who comes in off a win.
App. State was not the first on the board last Saturday, but they got there more often. They were the clear victor by a 31-9 margin over Marshall. The oddsmakers were on App. State's side, but they didn't give the team enough credit as the margin was unexpectedly wide.
It was another big night for Joey Aguilar, who threw for 226 yards and three touchdowns while completing 73.1% of his passes.
Meanwhile, Georgia State gave up the first points and the most points on Saturday. They were dealt a punishing 42-14 defeat at the hands of James Madison. Georgia State has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second defeat in a row.
Darren Grainger put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 103 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries. Grainger was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 58 yards.
The Panthers had trouble moving the ball and finished the game with only 228 total yards. They were destroyed by their opponents in that department as James Madison gained 567.
The victory makes it two in a row for App. State and bumps their season record up to 5-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 39.5 points per game. As for Georgia State, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.
App. State is hoping to beat the odds on Saturday, as the experts think they're headed for a loss.
Everything went App. State's way against Georgia State in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as App. State made off with a 42-17 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Georgia State's Tucker Gregg, who rushed for 93 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries. Now that he won't be playing on Saturday, will it be that much easier for App. State to walk away with another win? Check CBSSports.com after the match to find out.
