Georgia Tech vs. Georgia updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Georgia Tech vs. Georgia football game
The Georgia Bulldogs are 4-1 against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets since November of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. They will face off against one another at noon ET at Bobby Dodd Stadium at Historic Grant Field. Georgia Tech will need to watch out since the Bulldogs have now posted big point totals in their last three contests.
UGA ran circles around the Charleston Southern Buccaneers last week, and the extra yardage (488 yards vs. 126 yards) paid off. UGA was completely in charge, breezing past Charleston Southern 56-7 at home. The team ran away with 49 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those in the second to pick up the win. UGA's success was spearheaded by the efforts of RB Zamir White, who punched in one rushing touchdown, and TE Brock Bowers, who snatched two receiving TDs.
Meanwhile, the Yellow Jackets were pulverized by the Notre Dame Fighting Irish 55 to nothing last week. Georgia Tech was in a tough position by the half, with the score already sitting at 45 to nothing. QB Jordan Yates had a memorable game, but not in the way you want to be remembered: besides failing to produce a single touchdown, he threw one interception and fumbled the ball once with only 96 yards passing. Yates' longest run was for 54 yards in the third quarter.
The Bulldogs are the favorite in this one, with an expected 35-point (!) margin of victory. Those burned by picking them against the spread last week might want to keep in mind that the squad has not yet dropped back-to-back games against the spread this season.
UGA is now a perfect 11-0 while the Yellow Jackets sit at 3-8. Two numbers to keep in mind before kickoff: UGA is 196th worst in the nation in thrown interceptions, having thrown ten on the season. Georgia Teches have had an even harder time: they are stumbling into the matchup with the 182nd most thrown interceptions in the nation, having thrown nine on the season. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
