Hawaii vs. Colorado State updates: Live NCAAF game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Hawaii vs. Colorado State football game
Game Recap
The Hawaii Rainbow Warriors scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They snuck past the Colorado State Rams with a 50-45 win. Yes, you read that final score correctly. And yes, they were playing football.
The Rainbow Warriors started the contest off right with 29 first-half points. Colorado State wasn't quite able to keep up, and the score was 29-10 heading into the break. Hawaii couldn't replicate their first half dominance, getting outscored after the break, but not by enough to lose the matchup.
Hawaii QB Chevan Cordeiro was slinging it as he passed for two TDs and 406 yards on 41 attempts in addition to rushing for one TD and 34 yards. Cordeiro's 93-yard touchdown toss to WR Zion Bowens in the second quarter made for one of the most memorable moments of the night. Hawaii's DB Cameron Lockridge got in on the action, too, converting a pick in the second quarter into a touchdown.
Special teams collected 14 points for the Rainbow Warriors. K Matthew Shipley delivered a perfect 3-for-3 game.
Colorado State's loss came about despite a quality game from QB Todd Centeio, who passed for five TDs and 527 yards on 47 attempts. Near the top of the highlight reel was Centeio's 69-yard TD bomb to TE Cam Butler in the first quarter.
The victory bumped Hawaii's record up to 5-7. Colorado State's defeat pushed them down to 3-8.
Hawaii will take on the Wyoming Cowboys at 3 p.m. ET next Saturday at Jonah Field at War Memorial Stadium. Wyoming also lit up the scoreboard in their last game, so this could be a high-scoring contest. As for the Rams, they will face off against the Nevada Wolf Pack at 9 p.m. ET next Saturday at Canvas Stadium. Nevada also suffered a recent loss, falling 41-39 to the Air Force Falcons on Friday.
