James Madison vs. Georgia Southern updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the James Madison vs. Georgia Southern football game
The Georgia Southern Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the James Madison Dukes at 12:00 p.m. ET on Saturday at Showker Field at Bridgeforth Stadium. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Georgia Southern gave up the first points two Saturdays ago, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Coastal Carolina by a score of 38-28. The win made it back-to-back wins for Georgia Southern.
It was another big night for Davis Brin, who threw for 322 yards and three touchdowns. Khaleb Hood kept the secondary busy, picking up 131 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, James Madison put another one in the bag two Saturdays ago to keep their undefeated season alive. They walked away with a 31-23 win over South Alabama.
James Madison got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jordan McCloud out in front who threw for 241 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.0 yards per attempt. Zach Horton was another key contributor, picking up 116 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
James Madison's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. Leading the way was Jalen Green and his 2.5 sacks.
Georgia Southern has been no stranger to the win column this season, as they've started out with wins in four of their first five matches, giving them a 4-1 record. James Madison's victory was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their overall record up to 5-0.
Not only did both teams in this Saturday's contest win their last matches, they also took care of their bettors and covered the spread. Looking ahead, James Madison is the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by four points. They might be worth a quick bet since they've covered the spread the last three times they've played Georgia Southern.
Georgia Southern was able to grind out a solid victory over James Madison when the teams last played last October, winning 45-38. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was James Madison's Todd Centeio. Now that he won't be playing on Saturday, will Georgia Southern be able to walk away with another win against James Madison? Check CBSSports.com after the match to find out.
