LSU vs. McNeese State Live updates Score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAAF game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the LSU vs. McNeese State football game
Game Recap
You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely the LSU Tigers' strategy against the McNeese State Cowboys on Saturday. The Tigers blew past McNeese State 34-7.
LSU's offense came in ready to rumble, picking up 17 points in the first half. McNeese State wasn't quite able to keep up, and the score was 17 to nothing heading into the break. The LSU defense was impenetrable in the third quarter, shutting them out and essentially clinching the matchup.
LSU relied on the efforts of QB Max Johnson, who passed for three TDs and 161 yards on 27 attempts, and WR Kayshon Boutte, who snatched two receiving TDs. LSU also got a nice defensive effort from DL Maason Smith, who took down the quarterback three times.
No one had a standout game offensively for the Cowboys, but they got one touchdown from RB Carlos Williams.
The win got the Tigers back to even at 1-1. The defeat dropped McNeese State's record to 0-2.
LSU will be hunkering down at home again for their contest against the Central Michigan Chippewas at 7:30 p.m. ET Sept. 18 at Tiger Stadium. CMU is coming in off of a big 45 to nothing win over the Robert Morris Colonials. McNeese State is staying on the road next Saturday to face off against the Southern University Jaguars at 7 p.m. ET Sept. 18 at A.W. Mumford Stadium.
