The Miami (OH) RedHawks won the last time they faced the Bowling Green Falcons, and things went their way this past Tuesday, too. The RedHawks were the clear victors by a 34-7 margin over Bowling Green. That's two games in a row now that Miami (OH) have won by 27 points.
Miami (OH)'s offense came in ready to rumble, picking up 20 points in the first half. Bowling Green countered with 7 points. Miami (OH) put the game away in the third quarter with 14 points from the offense and zero points allowed from the defense.
The RedHawks can attribute much of their success to RB Tyre Shelton, who punched in two rushing touchdowns, and WR Jack Sorenson, who caught four passes for one TD and 111 yards. That's the most rushing touchdowns Shelton has had all year. QB Brett Gabbert didn't exactly stuff the stat sheet, but finished with two touchdowns.
RB Terion Stewart put forth a good effort for the losing side as he punched in one rushing touchdown. That touchdown -- a 62-yard rush in the first quarter -- was one of the highlights of the contest.
The victory improved the RedHawks' record to 6-5. The defeat dropped the Falcons' record to 3-8.
Miami (OH) will square off against the Kent State Golden Flashes at noon ET next week at Dix Stadium. As for Bowling Green, they will go up against the Ohio Bobcats at noon ET next week at Doyt L. Perry Stadium. Bowling Green and Ohio are both 2-5 after wins this year, but that symmetry won't hold for long.
