Mississippi State vs. Arkansas Live updates Score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAAF game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Mississippi State vs. Arkansas football game
Game Recap
The Mississippi State Bulldogs were the 54-24 winners over the Arkansas Razorbacks when they previously met last November. On Saturday? They had no such luck. MSU took a 21-14 hit to the loss column. If the result catches you off guard, it should: they were the far and away favorite.
QB Feleipe Franks hadn't helped Arkansas' cause all that much against the Georgia Bulldogs last week, but the same can't be said for this contest. Arkansas Franks was slinging it as he passed for two TDs and 212 yards on 28 attempts. Arkansas' DB Greg Brooks Jr. got in on the action, too, converting a pick in the first quarter into a touchdown.
The Razorbacks' defense was a presence as well, as it collected three interceptions and one fumble. DB Joe Foucha snatched up two of those interceptions, one with 1:28 remaining in the second quarter, the other with 14:31 left to play.
No one had a standout game offensively for the Bulldogs, but they got scores from WR JaVonta Payton and RB Dillon Johnson.
The matchup pushed MSU down to 1-0 and pulled Arkansas up to the reverse at 0-1.
MSU will take on the Kentucky Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. ET next Saturday at Kroger Field. These teams are both seeking redemption after dropping matches that they were favored to win. The Razorbacks will hit the road for the second straight week as they head to Jordan-Hare Stadium at 4 p.m. ET next Saturday. Unlike them, the Auburn Tigers will be stumbling in off of a loss.
