Northern Illinois vs. Ball State updates: Live NCAAF game scores, results for Wednesday

Game Recap

The Ball State Cardinals were the 31-25 winners over the Northern Illinois Huskies when they previously met last November. On Wednesday? They had no such luck. Ball State had victory within their grasp but couldn't quite capture it as the squad lost 30-29 to NIU. The contest was as close as the oddsmakers predicted, but the Cardinals had been the slight favorite coming in.

It was another big night for NIU's RB Jay Ducker, who rushed for one TD and 155 yards on 24 carries. NIU also got help from WR Cole Tucker, who showed off his sure hands for 103 receiving yards in the win.

Special teams collected 12 points for NIU. K John Richardson delivered a perfect 3-for-3 game.

Despite the loss, the Cardinals got a solid performance out of WR Justin Hall, who punched in two rushing touchdowns.

The loss dropped Ball State back to even at 5-5. The Huskies' victory brought them up to 7-3.

Ball State will square off against the Central Michigan Chippewas at 7 p.m. ET next Wednesday at Scheumann Stadium. As for NIU, they will go up against the Buffalo Bulls at 7 p.m. ET next Wednesday at UB Stadium. NIU is 4-2 after wins this season, and Buffalo is 2-3 after losses.
