South Carolina vs. Vanderbilt Live updates Score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAA Football game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the South Carolina vs. Vanderbilt football game
The Vanderbilt Commodores are 0-6 against the South Carolina Gamecocks since October of 2015, but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Commodores are on the road again on Saturday and play against USC at 4 p.m. ET Oct. 16 at Williams-Brice Stadium. Vanderbilt is hoping to patch up the holes in a defense that has allowed an average of 36.17 points per game.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 42 to nothing, which was the final score in Vanderbilt's tilt against the Florida Gators last week. The last quarter was a mere formality since it was already 42 to nothing by the third quarter. QB Ken Seals had a memorable game, but not in the way you want to be remembered: besides failing to produce a single touchdown, he threw two interceptions with only 4.47 yards per passing attempt.
Meanwhile, the Gamecocks have to be aching after a bruising 45-20 defeat to the Tennessee Volunteers last week. USC was in a tough position by the half, with the score already sitting at 38-7. The losing side was boosted by RB Kevin Harris, who punched in two rushing touchdowns.
The USC defensive unit accumulated five sacks for a loss of 24 yards. It was a group effort with five guys contributing.
Vanderbilt have to know they'll be fighting an uphill battle given the 18.50 point spread they are up against. Those sticking with them against the spread have guts, to put it politely, as the squad has let down bettors in their past four games.
The losses put Vanderbilt at 2-4 and the Gamecocks at 3-3. The Commodores are 2-1 after losses this season, USC 1-1.
