Texas vs. Iowa State updates: Live NCAAF game scores, results for Friday

Game Recap

After a string of three wins, Texas' good fortune finally ran out Friday. It was a hard-fought game, but they had to settle for a 23-20 defeat against the Iowa State Cyclones. The loss was just more heartbreak for the Longhorns, who fell 23-21 when the teams previously met last November.

Iowa State's success was spearheaded by the efforts of QB Brock Purdy, who passed for one TD and 312 yards on 36 attempts, and RB Breece Hall, who punched in one rushing touchdown.

A silver lining for Texas was the play of QB Sam Ehlinger, who passed for one TD and 298 yards on 29 attempts in addition to rushing for one TD and 65 yards.

Texas' defeat pushed them down to 5-3. The victory was the fourth in a row for Iowa State and raised their record to 7-2.

Texas will take on the Kansas State Wildcats at 1 p.m. ET next week at Bill Snyder Family Stadium. The Cyclones will look to defend their home turf next week against the West Virginia Mountaineers at 1 p.m. ET. West Virginia's offense will need to be on point to get points against Iowa State's defense, which is averaging only 17.75 points allowed per game.
