USC vs. Washington State: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Sunday's NCAAF game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the USC vs. Washington State football game
Game Recap
The USC Trojans were the big favorite in their most recent game, and for good reason. They took their matchup against the Washington State Cougars on Sunday by a conclusive 38-13 score. That's another feather in the cap for USC, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
The contest started off well for the Trojans, whose offense put up 35 first-half points. Washington State wasn't quite able to keep up, and the score was 35-6 heading into the break. USC was outscored in the second half, but Washington State's efforts were ultimately no more than a drop in the ocean.
QB Kedon Slovis hadn't helped USC's cause all that much against the Utah Utes two weeks ago, but the same can't be said for this contest. USC's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Slovis, who passed for five TDs and 287 yards on 32 attempts, and WR Amon-Ra St. Brown, who snatched four receiving TDs.
The Trojans' defense was a presence as well, as it got past the Cougars' offensive line to sack the quarterback four times for a total loss of 23 yards. Leading the way was DL Nick Figueroa and his three sacks. Figueroa now has 3.5 sacks through four games.
No one had a standout game offensively for Washington State, but they got scores from WR Renard Bell, WR Travell Harris, and QB Gunner Cruz.
USC's win brought them up to 4-0. The Cougars' overall record fell to 1-2.
The Trojans will take on the UCLA Bruins at 7:30 p.m. ET next Saturday at Rose Bowl. Like USC, UCLA is also coming into the game bolstered by a recent victory. Washington State will look to defend their home turf next Saturday against the California Golden Bears at 10:30 p.m. ET.
