Washington State vs. Arizona updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Washington State vs. Arizona football game
The Washington State Cougars will be playing at home against the Arizona Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. ET on Saturday at Clarence D. Martin Stadium. Washington State might want some stickum for this contest since the team gave up four turnovers on Saturday.
After a string of four wins, Washington State's good fortune finally ran out. They took a 25-17 hit to the loss column at the hands of UCLA. The loss was Washington State's first of the season.
Nobody from Washington State had a standout game, but they got scores from Nakia Watson and Cameron Ward.
Meanwhile, Arizona went for two against USC on Saturday, and the resulting failed attempt cost them the contest. Arizona fell just short of USC by a score of 43-41. Despite 141 more yards than USC, Arizona couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
Despite their defeat, Arizona saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jacob Cowing, who picked up 88 receiving yards and four touchdowns, was perhaps the best of all. That's the first time this season that Cowing hauled in two or more receiving touchdowns. Noah Fifita was another key contributor, throwing for 303 yards and five touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes.
The losses dropped Washington State to 4-1 and Arizona to 3-3.
Not only did both teams lose their last games, but neither team managed to cover the spread. Going forward, Washington State is the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by eight points. For those looking to play the spread, keep Arizona in mind: they have a solid 5-1 record against the spread this season.
Washington State was able to grind out a solid victory over Arizona when the teams last played last November, winning 31-20. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Arizona's Dorian Singer, who picked up 176 receiving yards and a touchdown. Now that he won't be playing on Saturday, will Washington State be able to walk away with another win against Arizona? There's only one way to find out.
