Washington vs. Arizona Live updates Score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAAF game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Washington vs. Arizona football game
Game Recap
The Arizona Wildcats weren't able to make up for their loss to the Washington Huskies from their previous meeting last October. The game between them on Saturday was not particularly close, with Arizona falling 44-27. They were down 37 to nothing at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
RB Richard Newton hadn't helped Washington's cause all that much against the Oregon State Beavers last week, but the same can't be said for this matchup. Newton was one of the most active players for the team, punching in two rushing touchdowns. One of the most memorable plays of the contest was Newton's 54-yard touchdown rush in the fourth quarter. QB Dylan Morris had a good game, too, finishing with two touchdowns.
The Huskies' defense was a presence as well, as it got past the Wildcats' offensive line to sack QB Grant Gunnell four times total. Leading the way was LB Zion Tupuola-fetui and his two sacks. Tupuola-fetui now has four sacks.
WR Stanley Berryhill III put forth a good effort for the losing side as he snatched two receiving TDs.
This is the second loss in a row for Arizona and nudges their record down to 0-2. The victory makes it two in a row for Washington and bumps their record up to 2-0.
Arizona will take on the UCLA Bruins at 3 p.m. ET next Saturday at Rose Bowl. Like the Wildcats, UCLA is looking to wash their mouths of the taste of defeat after falling 38-35 to the Oregon Ducks. The Huskies are packing up and heading on the road for their first away game this season. They face off against the Washington State Cougars next Friday at Clarence D. Martin Stadium at 10:30 p.m. ET. Washington State took a loss in their last contest and are no doubt out to reverse Washington's good fortune.
