On Thursday, the Chicago Cubs acquired Jose Quintana from the Chicago White Sox to boost their rotation. On Friday, word surfaced that the Cubs might not be done yet -- not even as it pertains to trading for above-average starters.

That's because, according to Ken Rosenthal and Jon Morosi, the Cubs are still in pursuit of Oakland Athletics righty Sonny Gray:

It's unclear whether the Cubs and A's are likely to match up on a deal -- the Cubs, after all, just unloaded a few of their top prospects -- but Chicago's interest in Gray makes sense.

Gray has rebounded from a brutal 2016 to post a 4.00 ERA (106 ERA+) and 2.96 strikeout-to-walk ratio in his first 13 starts. Factor in how he has two additional seasons of team control remaining, and he would be a long-term fit in a rotation that boasts few.

If these rumors heat up -- and again, it's hard to know if they will -- expect Kyle Schwarber's name to be tossed about -- if only because, you know, Moneyball jokes.
