WATCH: Reigning MVP Kris Bryant blasts first 2017 homer over everyone's heads
Bryant had it out for the Wrigley Field videoboard, and it paid dearly for whatever it did to upset him
Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant endured an inauspicious start to the 2017. Specifically, he endured the longest hitless streak ever by a reigning MVP to start a season. While he's notched some safeties since then, he entered Saturday's home tilt against the Pirates (PIT-CHC GameTracker) without a home run.
In the first inning, he ended that drought in authoritative fashion ...
And the people say: Larduhmighty. And now the digits on that monster ...

That would make it the fourth-longest homer of the young season, per Statcast. ESPN, meantime, was a bit more generous in its estimations ...

Oh, and it's the longest in baseball this year. pic.twitter.com/bWjeApKfE8
So it's the longest home run of the 2017 season, to hear one outlet tell it. Specifics aside, we can all agree it was an utter blast.
Bryant of course cracked 39 homers in his MVP campaign of 2016, so don't be shocked if they start coming in bunches at some point.
