Rangers' Drew Stubbs: Inks minor-league deal with Rangers
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Stubbs signed a minor-league contract with the Rangers on Tuesday.

After being signed, Stubbs was assigned to Triple-A Round Rock. Stubbs opened the season in the majors with the Giants and played in 10 games, during which he went 2-for-22 (.091). Stubbs has plenty of major-league experience and has a career batting average of .242, but hasn't hit above .225 since 2014.

Giants' Drew Stubbs: DFA'd by Giants
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Stubbs was designated for assignment by the Giants on Saturday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Stubbs was just 2-for-22 (.091) through 10 games with the Giants before being ousted off the roster. The move made room for Justin Ruggiano, whose contract was purchased from Triple-A on Saturday. Given his major-league experience, Stubbs could draw some interest on waivers.

Giants' Drew Stubbs: Out of lineup Sunday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Stubbs is out of the lineup Sunday against the Padres, Ron Kroichick of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Stubbs had started five of his first six games in a Giants uniform, but after Stubbs went 2-for-15 with five strikeouts in those contests, manager Bruce Bochy will give Gorkys Hernandez a spin in center field. It's likely that Bochy will simply ride the hot bat between the two center fielders until Denard Span (shoulder) returns from the disabled list.

Giants' Drew Stubbs: Returning to majors
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Stubbs had his contract purchased from Triple-A Sacramento on Monday, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Stubbs was added to the Giants to take the roster spot of Chris Marrero, who was DFA'd earlier Monday after hitting just .132 through 15 games (38 at-bats). He's batting eighth and playing center field for Monday's contest against the Dodgers, and he could see plenty of playing time in the near future given the Giants' injury-plagued outfield.

Giants' Drew Stubbs: Could get call to majors soon
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

With Denard Span (shoulder) in danger of landing on the disabled list, Stubbs would be the favorite to take his place on the roster, Alex Pavlovic of CSN Bay Area reports.

The 32-year-old is having a strong start to the season with Triple-A Sacramento, slashing .265/.375/.471 with two home runs and a steal in 40 plate appearances. Stubbs has always possessed a fantasy-friendly skill set, so he could enter the equation as a short-term option in deep leagues if he does get the call to the majors.

Giants' Drew Stubbs: Finalizes deal with Giants
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Stubbs agreed to a minor-league contract with the Giants on Wednesday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

With Mac Williamson (quadriceps) and Mike Morse (hamstring) out with injuries, the Giants are lighter than expected on outfield depth. He'll head to extended spring training before he likely heads to Triple-A Sacramento, though he could see some time in the majors at some point in 2017. Stubbs was released by the Twins after struggling in spring training, and he is coming off a year where he slashed .225/.330/.338 with three different major-league teams.

Drew Stubbs: Elects for free agency
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Stubbs exercised the opt-out clause in his contract Sunday and will officially become a free agent, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Pioneer Press reports.

After being informed that he wouldn't be making the Twins' 25-man roster, Stubbs will explore opportunities elsewhere. Stubbs shouldn't have trouble landing a minor-league deal with another organization, but may have to prove himself at the Triple-A level before getting a call to the majors.

Twins' Drew Stubbs: Won't make 25-man roster
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Stubbs has been told he won't make Minnesota's 25-man roster, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

It's not clear if he'll try to sign with another organization or report to Minnesota's Triple-A club.

Twins' Drew Stubbs: Making case for reserve role
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Stubbs went 1-for-1 with two walks in Monday's spring training win over Miami. He's competing for a reserve outfielder role. "He's a veteran guy, he's had some numbers. He's got an opportunity here," manager Paul Molitor told the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Stubbs hit just .225 with a .667 OPS last season with three different MLB teams. He's likely a long shot to win a reserve outfield role, but it's possible that the Twins' new management may not be totally committed to Robbie Grossman as the fourth outfielder.

Twins' Drew Stubbs: Inks minor league deal with Twins
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Stubbs signed a minor league deal with the Twins on Tuesday that includes an invitation to spring training, ESPN's Jerry Crasnick reports.

Stubbs hasn't had much MLB success since his 2014 campaign with the Rockies in which he hit .289 with 15 home runs and 20 stolen bases. With a solid spring training performance, it's possible that the 32-year-old could play his way into a reserve outfield role for the Twins in 2017.

Orioles' Drew Stubbs: Has two hits in first start for Orioles on Wednesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Stubbs made his first start for the Orioles on Wednesday and went 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI.

Stubbs was 0-for-3 while coming off the bench since being claimed by the Orioles a week ago. He has a career .274/.349/.449 slash line against left-handers, which is likely why he got the start against Drew Smyly. Stubbs went 1-for-2 with an infield single against Smyly before right-handed relief took over. Stubbs will remain in a crowded outfield mix with Steve Pearce, Hyun Soo Kim, Nolan Reimold and Michael Bourn on the roster.

Orioles' Drew Stubbs: Claimed by Orioles
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Stubbs was claimed off waivers by the Orioles on Wednesday, Eduardo A. Encina of the Baltimore Sun reports.

When healthy, the Orioles have a starting outfield of Hyun Soo Kim, Adam Jones, and Mark Trumbo. While Stubbs' line of .259/.343/.414 isn't enough to take a spot from any of the aforementioned players, he'll add valuable depth to the Baltimore roster. It's expected that he'll join the team Friday for their series opener against the Yankees.

Rangers' Drew Stubbs: Placed on irrevocable waivers
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Stubbs refused his assignment to the minors and was placed on irrevocable waivers Monday, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

The Rangers had designated Stubbs for assignment last week after acquiring Carlos Gomez, but the 31-year-old declined going to the minor leagues. He'll now look to continue his season elsewhere and it's possible there will be some interest on the waiver wire especially once rosters expand in September, but the veteran had been hitting a combined .259 through 39 games this season with the Braves and Rangers.

Rangers' Drew Stubbs: Designated for assignment
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Stubbs was designated for assignment Thursday, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.

With Carlos Gomez's activation Thursday, the club needed to clear space on the roster and Stubbs became the casualty. The 31-year-old has missed a large portion of the season with a toe injury and has thus been limited to just 39 games at the big league level in 2016, where he's slashed a combined .259/.343/.414 with the Braves and Rangers.

Rangers' Drew Stubbs: Activated from DL
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Stubbs (toe) was activated from the disabled list Wednesday, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

Stubbs, who went down with his injury on May 22, is officially back with the club after a lengthy rehab assignment. During his rehab games, Stubbs went 11-for-48 (.229) with two home runs and four doubles. Now that he's back with the Rangers, he'll add depth to an outfield that features Nomar Mazara, Ian Desmond, and Shin-Soo Choo.

Rangers' Drew Stubbs: Will begin rehab assignment Monday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Stubbs (toe) is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Round Rock on Monday, Stefan Stevenson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

Stubbs has been sidelined since late May with a sprained left toe, so he figures to spend at least most of the week with Round Rock before the Rangers would consider activating him. Even with Shin-Soo Choo (back) hitting the DL, the Rangers boast plenty of depth in the outfield, making it likely that Stubbs would be no better than a fourth or fifth outfielder for the club once he returns.

Rangers' Drew Stubbs: Tranferred to 60-day DL
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Stubbs (toe) was transferred to the 60-day DL to make room on the roster for Eric Surkamp.

Stubbs will now be remain sidelined until at least late July having been placed on the DL initiaily in late May.

Rangers' Drew Stubbs: Receives cortisone injection
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Stubbs (toe) received a cortisone injection Wednesday, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

Stubbs remains at least a week away from embarking on a rehab assignment, but since receiving the shot he's returned to all baseball activities. Of course, a cortisone shot is far from a permanent solution, but it could help to accelerate Stubbs' return to the Rangers.

Rangers' Drew Stubbs: At least a week away from rehab assignment
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Stubbs (toe) is at least a week away from beginning a rehab assignment, Ryan Posner of reports.

Stubbs seemed destined for a toe injury at some point given his surname, and it seems that end up missing at least a month of action as a result of this. He'll be returning to an outfield that will have added Shin Soo-Choo to the current mix, making a reserve role upon his return all but guaranteed.

Rangers' Drew Stubbs: Heads to 15-day DL
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Stubbs (toe) was placed on the 15-day DL with a left toe sprain.

Stubbs exited Sunday's game against Houston with the toe injury and it is now revealed that it is severe enough to send him to the DL. Joey Gallo was recalled in a corresponding roster move to replace the 31-year-old outfielder.
