UFC Fight Night 170 results, highlights: Charles Oliveira taps Kevin Lee to extend UFC submission record
Oliveria is now on a seven-fight winning streak, with all seven wins coming by knockout or submission
The circumstances were unusual, but Charles Oliveira looked like his old self while fighting in an empty arena with the global coronavirus pandemic forcing a suspension of large gatherings in Brazil. Oliveira extended his record for most submissions by any fighter in UFC history by tapping out Kevin Lee in the main event of UFC Fight Night 170.
The fight was a grueling affair with both men having moments where it looked as though they'd taken over the fight, only to see momentum reverse dramatically. From the first round, Oliveira (29-8) mixed his attack from wild combinations on the feet to a barrage of submission attempts on the ground. But Lee (18-6) defended on the ground capably and attacked from top position as he fended off leg locks, armbars and triangle chokes.

In Round 3, Lee decided to try his luck with the ground again but was reckless in head placement looking for the takedown, allowing Oliveira to lock in a guillotine choke. Oliveira cranked the hold and Lee tapped out before protesting the referee stoppage seconds later. The replay removed any doubt of the result and Oliveira extended his submission record to 14 while also extending his winning streak to seven fights, all coming by stoppage.
Oliveira's success in recent years has him aiming at the biggest names in the division as he tries to crack into the top 10. More specifically, Oliveira has his eye on the upcoming lightweight title fight between champ Khabib Nurmagomedov and challenger Tony Ferguson.
"Tony Ferguson and Khabib," Oliveira said following his win. "There's no way to deny it. I'm one of the best in the world and that belt is going to be mine."
