49ers vs. Cardinals updates: Live NFL game scores, results for Sunday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the 49ers vs. Cardinals football game
The Cardinals have enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the San Francisco 49ers at 4:25 p.m. ET on Sunday at Levi's Stadium. The 49ers are favored, but seeing as the odds didn't stop the Cardinals this last game, maybe the team has another upset up their sleeve.
Arizona saw their 11-point disadvantage in the spread on Sunday, but they decided it wasn't going to be the story of the game. They came out on top against the Cowboys by a score of 28-16. Despite the fact the oddsmakers missed calling the winner (and badly), they nailed the 43.5-point over/under.
The Cardinals' success was spearheaded by the efforts of James Conner, who rushed for 98 yards and a touchdown, and Joshua Dobbs, who threw for 189 yards and a touchdown while completing 81% of his passes. Rondale Moore brought some help for the Cardinals off the bench as he rushed for 54 yards.
Meanwhile, the 49ers strolled past the Giants with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 30-12. 30 seems to be a good number for San Francisco as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game against Los Angeles.
The 49ers got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Brock Purdy out in front who threw for 310 yards and two touchdowns. Purdy wound up with a passer rating of 111.3. Christian McCaffrey was another key contributor, rushing for 85 yards and a touchdown.
Their wins bumped Arizona to 1-2 and San Francisco to 3-0.
Not only did both teams in this Sunday's matchup win their last matches, they also took care of their bettors and covered the spread. Looking ahead, the 49ers are the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by 14 points. For those looking to play the spread, keep the 49ers' opponent in mind: they have a subpar 3-7 record against the spread vs the Cardinals over their last ten matchups.
Arizona suffered a grim 38-13 defeat to San Francisco in their prior recent meeting back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the 49ers' Purdy, who threw for 178 yards and three touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. Now that the Cardinals knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? Check CBSSports.com after the match to find out.
