Broncos vs. Chargers updates: Live NFL game scores, results for Sunday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Broncos vs. Chargers football game
3rd Quarter Report
Only one more quarter stands between the Broncos and the victory they were favored to collect coming into this afternoon. They have jumped out to a 13-6 lead against the Chargers.
If the Broncos keep playing like this, they'll bump their record up to 8-8 in no time. On the other hand, the Chargers will have to make due with a 5-11 record unless they turn things around (and fast).
Preview
The Denver Broncos will be playing in front of their home fans against the Los Angeles Chargers at 4:25 p.m. ET on Sunday at Empower Field at Mile High. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
The point spread may have favored Denver last Sunday, but the final result did not. They fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 26-23. Denver has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
The losing side was boosted by Russell Wilson, who threw for 238 yards and two touchdowns.
The Broncos have used their receiving core heavily this season, as 54.4% of their passes have been to wide receivers this season. The team tried something a little different on Sunday though, as only 34.5% of the QB's passes went to receivers. Given they posted a dismal 4.2 yards per play the Broncos probably won't be trying that again any time soon.
Meanwhile, Los Angeles' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of the Bills by a score of 24-22.
The losing side was boosted by Easton Stick, who rushed for 25 yards and a touchdown. Cameron Dicker did his part by putting the 'special' in special teams, booting in five field goals.
The Chargers were plagued by a slow offense and finished the game with only 4.2 yards per play. They were smoked by their opponents in that department as the Bills advanced 6.4 yards per play.
Denver now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Los Angeles, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.
Looking ahead, the Broncos are the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by 5.5 points. For those looking to play the spread, watch out: the Broncos are playing as the favorites at home, but their 2-5 record against the spread as such isn't exactly encouraging.
