Browns vs. Chargers Live updates Score, results, highlights, for Sunday's NFL game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Browns vs. Chargers football game
The Los Angeles Chargers are 3-1 against the Cleveland Browns since December of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Sunday. Los Angeles is on the road again on Sunday and plays against Cleveland at 1 p.m. ET Oct. 9 at FirstEnergy Stadium. If the game is anything like the Chargers' 47-42 victory from their previous meeting in October of last year, the scorekeeper will be kept real busy.
Los Angeles had a touchdown and change to spare in a 34-24 win over the Houston Texans last week. The squad ran away with 27 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those in the second to pick up the win. Los Angeles can attribute much of their success to RB Austin Ekeler, who punched in two rushing touchdowns in addition to snatching one receiving TD.
Los Angeles' defense was a presence as well, as it got past Houston's offensive line to sack QB Davis Mills four times for a total loss of 31 yards. It was a group effort with four guys contributing.
Meanwhile, it was all tied up 10-10 at halftime, but the Browns were not quite the Atlanta Falcons' equal in the second half when they met last week. It was a hard-fought contest, but Cleveland had to settle for a 23-20 defeat against Atlanta. The losing side was boosted by RB Nick Chubb, who rushed for one TD and 118 yards on 19 carries.
This next matchup is expected to be close, with Los Angeles going off at just a 2.5-point favorite. If their 3-1 record against the spread is anything to go by, the prospects look good for bets placed on them.
Los Angeles' win brought them up to 2-2 while the Browns' loss pulled them down to an identical 2-2. A pair of offensive stats to keep an eye on: The Chargers are stumbling into the matchup with the fewest rushing yards per game in the NFL, having accrued only 64.5 on average. Cleveland's offense has more to brag about, as they they enter the game with seven rushing touchdowns, good for second best in the league.
