Patriots vs. Commanders score: Live updates, stats, highlights for NFL Week 9 game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Patriots vs. Commanders football game
The Washington Commanders will head out on the road to face off against the New England Patriots at 1:00 p.m. ET on Sunday at Gillette Stadium. The Commanders are expected to lose this one by four points, so we'll see if that gives them a bit of motivation.
Washington pushed their score all the way to 31 on Sunday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 38-31 to the Eagles. That's two games in a row now that Washington has lost by exactly seven points.
The Commanders' loss came about despite a quality game from Sam Howell, who threw for 397 yards and four touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. Jahan Dotson was another key contributor, picking up 108 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, New England might have drawn first blood against Miami on Sunday, but it was Miami who got the last laugh. The Patriots took a 31-17 bruising from the Dolphins.
The Patriots weren't very productive in the air and finished the game with only 161 passing yards. They were dismantled by their opponents in that department as the Dolphins passed for 324.
Washington's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 3-5. That poor showing could be blamed on the team's lackluster offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 18.0 points per game. As for New England, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.
Not only did the Patriots and the Commanders lose their last games, but neither team managed to cover the spread. Looking forward, the Patriots are the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by four points. For those looking to play the spread, careful betting on the Patriots: they have a less-than-stellar 2-6 record against the spread this season.
