Texans vs. Titans updates: Live NFL game scores, results for Sunday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Texans vs. Titans football game
3rd Quarter Report
This matchup looks nothing like the tight 19-16 margin from the Texans' win over the Titans in their previous head-to-head two weeks ago. After three quarters the Texans' offense has really been able to impose its will, dominating the Titans 23-3. The Texans' offense has been firing on all cylinders thus far, outscoring their total from last Sunday with time still left to play.
If the Texans keep playing like this, they'll bump their record up to 9-7 in no time. On the other hand, the Titans will have to make due with a 5-11 record unless they turn things around (and fast).
Preview
The Titans have enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Houston Texans at 1:00 p.m. ET on Sunday at NRG Stadium. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Sunday, while it was Tennessee who put the first points on the board, it was Seattle who put up more. The Titans fell just short of the Seahawks by a score of 20-17. That's two games in a row now that Tennessee has lost by exactly three points.
The Titans' loss came about despite a quality game from Derrick Henry, who rushed for 88 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 12 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes.
Even though they lost, the Titans were rock solid where kicking is concerned and finished the game having kicked 100% of their field goals. This was only their eighth loss (out of 12 games) when the kicker is dialed in.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for the Texans, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 36-22 loss to the Browns on Sunday. Houston has not had much luck with Cleveland recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Davis Mills, who threw for 149 yards and two touchdowns.
Tennessee's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 5-10. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only three points. As for Houston, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.
The Titans are hoping to beat the odds on Sunday, as the experts think they're headed for a loss. For those looking to play the spread, watch out: the Titans are playing on the road, but their 2-5 record against the spread as such isn't exactly encouraging.
