Dez Bryant came down with a remarkable catch on Monday night that should look awfully familiar to Cowboys fan.

Key word: awfully.

In the fourth quarter of the Cowboys' 19-16 win over the Redskins, Matt Cassel targeted Bryant deep down the left sideline. Bryant, locked into single coverage, went up and snagged the football. Fully outstretched, he landed on his stomach inside the 5-yard line.

Though the Cowboys trailed by three points, their star wide receiver put them in a perfect position to at least tie the game, which they eventually did with a field goal.

But instead of feeling euphoric in the moment, Cowboys fans probably felt something else -- a surge of disappointment as old, horrible memories filled their minds.

Even if you're not a Cowboys fan, you know what I'm talking about. I'm talking about last year's playoff game between the Cowboys and Packers, when Bryant came down with a miraculous catch on a crucial fourth down in the fourth quarter.

Except, after a challenge, Bryant's catch was reversed and deemed incomplete because he failed to complete the process of the catch. The Packers ended up stealing the game.

Let's take a closer look at some stills. This is Bryant's non-catch from last year ...

The key difference? Bryant completed the process of the catch on Monday night.

Funnily enough, the only reason why that difference probably exists is due to Bryant's proximity to the end zone. Back in January, Bryant reached for the end zone as he fell to the ground, which ended up causing him to briefly lose control of the football. But on Monday, he was 4 yards away from the goal line -- not 1 yard -- which means he had no chance to extend the ball over the goal line as he tumbled.

Anyways, I wasn't kidding. That non-catch back in January was on everybody's mind Monday night.

They're right. This time, Dez did catch the ball. For some reason, though, I just don't think Bryant's catch on Monday night will be enough for Cowboys fans to forgive the call the officials made last January.

But Cowboys fans should still rejoice. Due in part to Bryant's leaping grab, the Cowboys are only one game out of the top spot in the NFC East.
