  • Rams' Omar Speights: Practices in full

Speights (ankle) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports. The inside linebacker was a limited participant Wednesday. Speights suffered a high-ankle sprain in the Rams' Week 5 loss to the 49ers and missed the team's Week 6 win over the Ravens. The second-year pro is trending in the right direction ahead of this Sunday's matchup with the Jaguars.

  • Rams' Omar Speights: Limited to open week

Speights (ankle) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, Stu Jackson of the Rams' official site reports. Speights sustained a high ankle sprain during the Rams' Week 5 loss to the 49ers, which prevented him from playing against the Ravens in Week 6. His ability to return to practice is a sign that he is progressing in his recovery, and his participation over the next two days will determine his chances of playing against the Jaguars on Sunday.

  • Rams' Omar Speights: Standing out at camp

Rams coach Sean McVay singled out Speights on Thursday as someone who has been "outstanding" during training camp, Cameron DaSilva of USA Today reports. "You can see he's really taken leaps in his second year," McVay continued. "He has really good ownership of what we're trying to get done." It's been evident at Rams camp that Speights and Nate Landman will be the team's starting inside linebackers. Los Angeles signed Speights as an undrafted free agent out of LSU last year, and he went on to appear in all 17 regular-season contests, making 10 starts.

  • Rams' Omar Speights: Starts 12 games in 2024

Speights finished the 2024 regular season with 67 tackles (37 solo) and two pass defenses across 17 games and added 11 tackles (four solo) and one forced fumble across the Rams' two playoff contests. Speights signed with the Rams in May of 2024 as an undrafted free agent out of LSU. He was limited to special-teams work through the first six games of the regular season, but he made his first career NFL start in Week 7 against the Raiders due to Troy Reeder's hamstring injury. Speights started in the final nine contests of the regular season and in the Rams' two postseason games alongside Christian Rozeboom. Speights could have the inside track on the second starting inside-linebacker job next to Rozeboom heading into the 2025 campaign.

  • Rams' Omar Speights: Ties season high in tackles

Speights recorded 10 tackles (five solo) during Saturday's 13-9 victory against the Cardinals. The rookie linebacker was busy against Kyler Murray and the Cardinals, tying Kamren Curl for the team lead in tackles. Speights currently has 64 tackles (36 solo) and two pass defenses on the campaign, with the majority of that production coming after earning an expanded role starting in Week 8.

  • Rams' Omar Speights: Racks up seven tackles Thursday

Speights recorded seven tackles (three solo) during Thursday's 12-6 win at San Francisco. For the fourth time in his last six games, Speights managed to collect seven-plus tackles. With that said, he's still clearly behind Christian Rozeboom in the pecking order for snaps at inside linebacker going into a Week 16 tilt against the Jets.

  • Rams' Omar Speights: Continues to play significant role

Speights recorded seven tackles (four solo) in Sunday's 37-20 loss to the Eagles. The 2024 undrafted free agent has now made at least six tackles in three straight games since replacing the injured Troy Reeder (hamstring). Reeder was eligible to return for Sunday night's matchup with the Eagles, but he remained on injured reserve. If he can't return in time for next week's matchup with the Saints, Speights should be in line to play on a majority of the defensive snaps for the fourth game in a row.
