Islanders vs. Lightning Game 6: Anthony Beauvillier scores in OT for New York to force Game 7

The New York Islanders had to win in order to save their season on Wednesday night, and they are still alive following a 3-2 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning. Anthony Beauvillier scored the game-winning goal in overtime for New York in Game 6 to knot the Stanley Cup Semifinals series between the Isles and Lightning at 3-3.

The Lightning came out strong to start the game, with a goal from Brayden Point in the first period to put them up 1-0. A goal from Anthony Cirelli put the defending Stanley Cup champions up 2-0 with the momentum in the second period, but shortly after that the Islanders began to answer.

Jordan Eberle scored off a Mathew Barzal assist to put the Islanders within one towards the end of the second period, and from there it was all New York. New York came out strong to start the third period and were able to capitalize on their dominance. The home team tied the game up and then forced overtime thanks to a goal from Scott Mayfield.

It didn't take long for the Islanders to put this one away in OT, as Beauvillier scored less than two minutes in.

The rowdy Long Island crowd celebrated by throwing drinks and cans onto the ice in what could be the last game at the Nassau Coliseum. But that, and the series, all comes down to Game 7 on Friday night. If the Islanders win and make the Final, their fans will get to visit the Nassau Coliseum a few more times.
