LOOK: Avalanche's awesome new third jersey appears to have leaked
The Colorado Avalanche's new third jersey appears to have accidentally leaked on the league's international online store. It's pretty great.
The Colorado Avalanche have already made some subtle changes to their regular uniforms, but they’re also going to be adding a third jersey to the mix this season. There have been some renderings and some rumors, but now it looks like we have some hard evidence.
The NHL’s online international store had an item available for a period of time Monday titled “Colorado Avalanche Premier Third Jersey.” It was pretty much exactly like the rendering that Icethetics.com shared weeks prior.
The item has since been removed (or actually is out of stock according to the website), but some were quick to nab a photo including our old pal Marc Dumont.

The jersey is a little reminiscent of the old Colorado Rockies jerseys (the NHL Rockies that is). This one has a more modern twist, but has some elements that look a little more retro, too. With a navy blue base, the jersey works in the team’s trademark burgundy and white and also incorporates the Colorado flag on the shoulder.
The Avalanche’s primary logo on their regular jerseys is great already, but third jerseys should be a little different, a little out there. Some go too far, but this looks just right.
Incorporating state iconography, including the “C” as it appears on the state flag and the sleek snow-capped mountain peak is a really cool idea. Adding the actual flag to the white shoulders is a pretty great idea, too. The team is supposed to represent the whole state after all.
They’re probably going to sell a whole bunch of these next season.
Oh, and by the way, the Anaheim Ducks jersey that brings back the old Mighty Ducks logo that we shared a few weeks back looks like it’s a go, too. That jersey also accidentally leaked on the international store.
It’s looking like a good year for third jerseys in the NHL overall.
