It’s been a pretty big year for Leonardo DiCaprio, what with the long-awaited Oscar win for his performance in The Revenant. That victory only solidified his status as one of the biggest movie stars in the world, and therefore one of Hollywood’s most popular people. Sometimes, he just wants to blend in. Fair enough.

It’s kind of hard to do that when you’re sitting on the glass at a New York Islanders game in Brooklyn, though.

Sitting alongside longtime Islanders fan and Entourage star Kevin Connolly, DiCaprio had a Cal baseball cap pulled tight over his face as he was shown on the home TV broadcast and apparently on the video board inside.

If you weren’t told it was the Academy Award winner, you probably would think he’s just some shy guy who had the misfortune of sitting next to a celebrity fan that was going to get a lot of screen time on the video board in Brooklyn.

It was definitely him, though.

The commentary from the Isles broadcast is great as play-by-play man Howie Rose compares DiCaprio’s hidden-face act to his portrayal of the reclusive Howard Hughes in The Aviator.

“He doesn’t want anybody to know he’s here,” Rose says gleefully. “It’s Mr. Leonardo DiCaprio who is seated in Section 1!”

Well now everyone knows where to look for him.

I totally get celebrities who want to try to stay private even when out in the open like this, but seats on the glass don’t allow for much subtlety or secrecy. Although, I will say, the lowness with which Leo is able to rock a hat without completely obscuring his view is pretty impressive.
