Earlier this week I spent some time looking at the Toronto Maple Leafs and their fights this season.
What I found was that most of them came in completely meaningless situations and had no real tangible impact on the outcome of their games. This is true for most hockey fights, regardless of team. Nobody fights in meaningful situations, and having fighters on your roster doesn't exactly lend itself to winning games.
This fight in a recent game in Quebec's Ligue Nord-Americaine de Hockey (LNAH) between Cornwall and HC Carvena de Sorel-Tracy involving Francis Lessard and Sebastien Laferriere is so bad that it wishes it was meaningless.
It wasn't even a fight.
The fans boo. The linesmen encourage them to start throwing punches. And nothing.
The LNAH has a terrible reputation in hockey circles for being a "goon league" and is known for its fighting. Well, except for this one.
The last time we checked in with the LNAH former NHL enforcer Donald Brashear was punching people from behind.
