Barcelona notched their first statement-making win under manager Hansi Flick on Wednesday, when they beat Bayern Munich 4-1 at home as Raphinha scored a hattrick.
The Brazil international kicked off the scoring with a goal in the first minute, with Fermin Lopez playing a slick ball to Raphinha yards from the halfway line. Raphinha handled the rest from there, running towards goal and then sliding the ball past Manuel Neuer for the early lead.
Bayern, though, responded well by dominating possession and limiting Barcelona to zero shots in the next 22 minutes and eventually scoring the equalizer through Harry Kane's 18th minute goal. That joy was short-lived, though, as individual defensive errors allowed Robert Lewandowski to strike in the 36th minute and Raphinha to complete a brace in the 45th minute.
The visitors looked intent on mounting a comeback to start the second half but Raphinha's third off a counterattack essentially dashed their hopes of rescuing a point. Barcelona, meanwhile, closed the game out skillfully, swapping the high-intensity feeling for the first hour for a restrained and controlled finish to the game.
With two wins out of three Champions League games, Barcelona sit ninth in the league phase table while Bayern rank 23rd with just one win to start the campaign.
