Barcelona vs. Slavia Prague score: Messi and company held to draw at home in Champions League
Barcelona wasted a chance to take command of its group on Tuesday
Barcelona wasted a perfect opportunity to all but punch its ticket to the Champions League round of 16 on Tuesday, settling for a poor 0-0 draw at home against Slavia Prague. Barca had 14 shots and six on frame but could not break down the tough, organized defense of the visitors, failing to distance itself from Inter Milan and Borussia Dortmund in Group F.
Barca was without the injured Luis Suarez but still created enough chances to earn the victory, and while the passing was crisp for the most part, there were some moments of shakiness. Slavia Prague played well on the road, especially in the first half, with its high line in defense giving Barca trouble.
Lionel Messi nearly won the game for the Spanish side with an unbelievable solo run in the first half as he went from midfield all the way to the top of the box, firing a lovely shot off the crossbar.
Barca is 2-2-0 in the group with eight points and still in first place, with remaining matches at Inter Milan and home to Borussia Dortmund. Slavia Prague is 0-2-2 but still alive and well when it comes to potentially finishing in third place and entering the Europa League.
