Borussia Dortmund vs. Wolfsburg score: Guerreiro, Hakimi score as BVB pulls within a point of Bayern

Dortmund hasn't conceded a goal since the Bundesliga returned

Borussia Dortmund continued its dominant ways, beating Wolfsburg 2-0 on Saturday in Bundesliga Matchday 27 action as Raphael Guerreiro and Achraf Hakimi found the back of the net to lead the way. The victory pulled the club to within a point of Bayern Munich before the league leaders' match against Eintracht Frankfurt later on Saturday. The win sets up Dortmund to blow open the title race with a win over Bayern Munich on Tuesday when the two meet as part of Matchday 28. Here are three takeaways from the game:

Guerreiro continues to shine

Boy does Raphael Guerreiro continue to impress. With Dortmund switching to a backline of three in November, Guerreiro has the freedom to push high up knowing there are two midfielders giving him support underneath. He was never known much for his scoring before arriving at Dortmund, scoring 10 times in 110 matches for Lorient. He's now got 16 goals in 77 league games for Dortmund and 22 goals in total. 

After scoring two against Schalke last weekend, he got the winner in this one by staying high and finishing a loose ball in the box that Erling Haaland somehow whiffed. Take a look:

The Portuguese international has proven to be precise in his shooting and has now scored in three of his team's last six games.

The quick counter was played to perfection

If you want to see how to perform a counter attack, just watch Dortmund's second goal. Hakimi's strike was nice, but it's the quick touches in the middle and then the lovely side touch by Sancho to get free that really gets it going. Dortmund gets what is basically and a three-on-two with Sancho setting up Hakimi to perfection. The quick touches make all the difference, keeping a defense off balance and not allowing them to quickly react in numbers (see below). This goal killed off the match for the black and yellow side:

Brooks has up-and-down match

At times, John Brooks was at his best in this game, giving Haaland quite a bit of trouble with his well-timed challenges when Haaland had his back to the goal. Then there were the two occasions where his positioning was just awful. Brooks was caught out on both goals with horrible positioning. 

Look at the first goal. As Haaland misses his chance and Guerreiro finishes, Brooks is nowhere to be found, having been caught out wide.

Then on the second goal, which came on the counter started by Haaland, Brooks went to cut off the ball to the Norwegian as he had already done a couple times before in this one. But Haaland's quick touch allowed Dortmund to spring forward, with Brooks only watching from behind. To get caught in what is almost the attacking third when nobody else was applying too much pressure really proved costly in a game that turned out to be a poor one for the USA international.

In the end, Brooks showed some good signs and had a strong opening half, but his positioning on the two goals show where mistakes were made. Against Dortmund, you can't give them anything, or they will make you pay just like they did on Saturday.

Red card for Wolfsburg

Well, this one is over. Klaus gets a red card for a nasty tackle from behind on Akanji. Unlikely to come back from two down, with 10 men, with less than 10 minutes remaining.

Game, set and match?

Hakimi gets his fourth goal of the season with Sancho performing a lovely run from midfield before setting up Hakimi. It's a delightful goal and it's Sancho's 16th assist. They played it to perfection.

71' Nearly a second for Dortmund!

Nice build up with Haaland and Sancho, as Guerreiro gets off a shot from a narrow angle on the left, but it goes just wide! It hits a defender and goes out for a corner, but Dortmund can do nothing with it.

62' Burki does well!

Oh that's a fine hit from Steffen who volleys on frame, but Burki is there to push it wide. That ball had some movement and pace, but the goalkeeper handles it well and clears any threat. Wolfsburg is slowly getting back into this one.

Hummels injury not serious

According to the broadcast, Mats Hummels has a foot issue and is subbed off as a precaution with the Bayern showdown on Tuesday.
