Inter Milan vs. Juventus score: Alexis Sanchez's last-minute winner gives Inter the Supercoppa trophy
American Weston McKennie scored for Juventus, but they fell in the final seconds of extra time

Inter Milan beat Juventus, 2-1, to win the Supercoppa Italiana on Wednesday thanks to a late Alexis Sanchez goal. The Serie A champions fell behind as U.S. international Weston McKennie score the opener. Inter, however, leveled through Lautaro Martinez's penalty and the encounter went beyond the regulation 90 minutes. Sanchez then snatched the victory at the death, just when penalties looked likely at the end of the second period of extra time.
Simone Inzaghi lands the trophy for the Nerazzurri for the first time since 2010 and that is the third time in the last four years that the Italian tactician has been the winning boss after his SS Lazio successes. He was forced to do it the hard way, though, as Juve started strong and took the lead through a rejuvenated McKennie's header.
Nicolo Barella had seen penalty shouts waved away while the match was goalless, but Inter did get a spot kick before halftime which was converted by Martinez. At that point, it looked likely that this would play out well over the second half but things got attritional instead and Sanchez's late effort arrived just as the clock was reaching 120 minutes.

Here's a look at the winning goal:
With both teams back in Serie A action, both bosses understandably did not want to run their players into the ground with Massimiliano Allegri's Juve facing a tricky run and Inter having already travelled for a postponed game due to COVID-19. However, the soccer was still quality to watch and the Bianconeri support also used the game to increase their calls for Andrea Agnelli to leave the club.
McKennie and Sanchez both did themselves some good with important contributions while Arthur Melo got to see the pitch for what could turn out to be his final outing with Juventus.
