Manchester United vs. Young Boys score: Ralf Rangnick's rotated side held to Champions League draw
Despite dropping points, United clinched first place in Group F while snow postponed Atalanta vs. Villarreal
Manchester United went with a youthful lineup when hosting Young Boys but were able to hold the Swiss side to a 1-1 draw on Paramount+. With qualification to the knockout round secured, Ralf Rangnick used his entire squad with Dean Henderson, Donny van de Beek, Amad Diallo, Mason Greenwood, and Anthony Elanga all making the starting XI.
Early on it looked like the substitutes would impress their new manager as Luke Shaw assisted Greenwood's opener in the 9th minute.
It was quite the finish as Greenwood has been rooted to the bench recently but he took his chance to try forcing a way into the starting XI. United thought they were going to double their lead in the 31st minute but Diallo made a poor decision when he could've shot on goal instead wasting possession and the move came to nothing. After United wasted their chances, Young Boys were able to grow into the match forcing a save in the 37th minute before getting a breakthrough in the 42nd minute.
Fabian Rieder picked the ball off of van de Beek and curled a shot past Dean Henderson for the leveler.
The second half saw each side exchange half chances but the biggest moment was Charlie Savage, son of Robbie Savage, being subbed on for Juan Mata in the 99th minute for his Manchester United debut. It was a credible result for David Wagner's side but it wasn't enough for Young Boys to nab an Europa Leauge place.
