Tottenham-Manchester United score: Bruno Fernandes penalty kick earns Red Devils a point at Spurs
Jose Mourinho's side coughed up the win against his former team late in the game

Tottenham let three points slip away on Friday against Manchester United in the Premier League as the two teams played out a tense 1-1 draw. Spurs looked sharper for most of the match and got a goal from Steven Bergwijn in the first half, but substitute Paul Pogba came on for the Red Devils and won a penalty kick late in the game with Bruno Fernandes scoring it in the 81st minute to split the points. Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea failed to stop Tottenham's lone goal, though he probably should have as it had only pace and not much accuracy.
Spurs had injured stars Harry Kane and Heung-min Son return to the field after a lengthy hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic, but the two rarely threatened outside of a dangerous header from Son in the first half.
The two points wasted from Spurs leaves them in eight place, while a victory would have put them four points back of a Champions League spot. United's draw in the end isn't a bad result and keeps them in fifth place, just two points back of the top four.
Here are three takeaways from the match:
Shaw, Maguire and De Gea fall asleep on goal
Sure, Bergwijn's goal was pretty nice, but let's not kid ourselves here. The performance from United on the goal was absolutely horrendous. First Luke Shaw heads the ball to nowhere and then for some reason pushes up, leaving Harry Maguire alone. The Dutchman gets the ball and marches in on goal, catches Maguire with his hips turned and then fires a powerful shot that really lacked accuracy. Still, De Gea wasn't able to get it. That's a save you expect De Gea to make probably nine times out of 10 if not more if not 10 out of 10. It was a simple lack of execution by three vital players that opened the door for a point.
Take a look:
Changes for United made the difference
The expected decision to bring on Pogba made a huge difference with the French star instantly bringing more creativity and attacking intent. His lovely move on the endline to get past Eric Dier resulted in the game-tying penalty kick. Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford were also solid, but Pogba shined alongside Bruno Fernandes and they were quick to get the ball off of their feet.
Expect Pogba and Fernandes to begin to start regularly before long as together they have proven to be able to change any game at any moment.
A better result for United
At the end of the day, this is a solid and probably deserved result for United. Tottenham was very compact and declined as the game went on, while United was the opposite. No team probably deserved to win that one. The draw keeps United close to Chelsea and the top four, while Tottenham really wasted a decent chance to get back into the UCL conversation.

Man. United's goal
Penalty!
Pogba goes down in the box, and it's given! Clear penalty.
Nearly the equalizer!
Goodness! A fine low strike from Bruno Fernandes from the outside of the box beats Lloris, but it also beat the post! It was a fine look! Went just inches wide.
Bruno.....
45+1' Bruno Fernandes tries his luck from way out with a pacey effort that also had some movement on it, but Lloris saved it well in the middle of the goal.
