Marcus Rashford, Parisian slayer
Stop me if you've heard this one before: a late Marcus Rashford goal gave Manchester United a dramatic win against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League. While the stakes were nowhere near as high as they were the last time this happened in the 2018-19 season -- this happening during the group stage and it happening in the knockout stage then-- the young English forward once again became the thorn in the side of PSG, breaking the 1-1 deadlock with a beautiful curling shot from just inside the box and give his side an important three points in the group. At least Neymar was able to get a better view of the heartbreaker, as he was actually on the pitch for this one.
Barcelona overcome Pique's weird challenge
With a commanding lead against a side that at no point posed any legitimate threat to the Catalan club, Gerard Pique made the baffling rash decision to drag down opposing forward Tokmac Nguen to the ground from the back of his jersey. The official pulled out a red card that brought Barcelona down to 10 men, and awarded a penalty that cut Barcelona's lead against Ferencvaros. Now, the Blaugrana were still able to score two more goals and solidify a 5-1 win, but that kind of recklessness in a game with stakes so low can't possibly inspire confidence in how Barcelona will perform moving forward, especially given that this is a pivotal season in trying to make a case for getting Lionel Messi to stay with the club.
Lazio outclass Dortmund at home
As mentioned before kickoff, this match was an opportunity for Ciro Immobile to stunt on his former team and show what they've been missing with his European Golden Boot-winning form he's picked up in Italy. He did just that, scoring the opener for his side and then later assisting on another goal in a game where Dortmund seemed to have no answer for anything their opponents were doing. Immobile's career in Dortmund lasted just one season before the club moved on from him following a campaign of 10 goals in 34 games. Success is the best revenge, and that's what the Italian striker got on Tuesday.
Top Plays
Marcus Rashford's winner against Paris: Game-winners deserve all the recognition they get, so here's Marcus Rashford putting PSG away for the second time in his young career.
Charles De Ketelaere wins it for Brugge: Though Rashford was the biggest name to score a winner on Tuesday, he wasn't the only one to accomplish such a feat. De Ketelaere was able to score a late goal to give Zenit a rare loss at home, something that hadn't happened in over a year.
Golazo of the day: Krasnador's Cristian Ramirez blasting one from an incredible angle outside of the box will make your jaw absolutely drop.
