WATCH: Lionel Messi receives vicious tackle, somehow walks away
Messi's season and career could have been put in jeopardy thanks to a crazy tackle, but he got up and walked away.
There is a time in soccer where it just goes too far. Atletico Madrid is known as a physical, no-nonsense team that presses and tackles, really, really hard. Lionel Messi felt that on Saturday, and Barcelona is lucky that the end result wasn't worse.
Filipe Luis of Atletico was shown a red card for a crazy, vicious tackle on Messi late in the first half. The Brazilian challenged Messi and planted the bottom of the cleats on Messi's leg.

It's hard to describe just how dangerous that is. If it lands correctly, it can ruin a career. A deserved red card, and a ban of more games is likely. Luckily for Messi, he walked away from it.
