Retired five-division champion Floyd Mayweather, arguably the greatest pound-for-pound boxer of all time, says he will not fight mixed martial arts superstar Conor McGregor after all.

The potential clash between the boxing and MMA superstars had been discussed -- quite often -- over the last four months, though the chatter had ceased as McGregor had a rematch planned against Nate Diaz at UFC 202, a fight McGregor won.

On Saturday, Mayweather delivered the KO to any possibility of fighting McGregor.

"I tried to make the fight happen between me and Conor McGregor. We wasn't able to make the fight happen, so we must move on," he said in an interview with FightHype.com.

And in deciding to move on, Mayweather was compelled to inform us of his station in ring sports, despite his retirement.

"I feel honored to be the biggest name in MMA and in boxing. And I don't even compete no more."
