WATCH: Ball gets stuck, and only a young fan climbing the goal can help
A young fan climbed the goal to free a ball stuck behind the backboard at Boise State
Welcome to bizarro world in Mountain West basketball. Tuesday night’s Boise State-Fresno State game in Idaho was stopped for more than two minutes because a ball got stuck underneath the shot clock, behind the goal.
Before we get to the hero of the night, a young fan with elite climbing skills, we need to set up the scenario.
A Boise State bounce pass in the paint bounced off a player and high into the air -- over the top of the backboard and eventually got stuck between support beams and the shot clock. First, players tried to knock it out with a ball, then a cheerleader tried to knock the ball loose with a tool.
Finally, the day was saved by a young fan who climbed the goal and released the ball. He rightfully received an ovation from the Broncos fans.
