WATCH: Baylor's Prince dumbs down definition of a rebound for reporter
Baylor forward Taurean Prince gave the perfect answer when a reporter asked about Yale's rebounding advantage in the Bears' First Round loss on Thursday.
The time after an NCAA Tournament loss can showcase some of the most raw emotional moments you'll see in college sports. Sometimes players wear their emotions on their sleeve, other times players redirect that disappointment in other ways.
For Baylor forward Taurean Prince, that means hilariously turning a reporters question about Yale's rebounding advantage into the best sound clip of the day.
"They had more rebounds than us?" Prince asked.
The reporter asking the question informed Prince that Yale had in fact out-rebounded the Bears, 36-32. He asked how that happened.
"Go up and grab the ball off the rim when it comes off, and then grab it with two hands, and then come down with it. That's considered a rebound," Prince said, with a totally straight face. "So they got more of those than we did."
Well....actually what qualifies as a rebound is not so cut and dry, Mr. Prince. According to the official NCAA rules, a rebound may be accomplished:
(1) By gaining control of the ball.
(2) By tipping or batting the ball in an attempt to score a goal.
(3) By tipping or batting the ball to a teammate so that the teammate or another teammate is the first to gain control.
(4) By retrieving a rebound simultaneously with an opposing player and having his or her own team be the first to be entitled to the ball.
(5) By blocking an opponent’s shot and purposely batting the ball to a teammate who is the first to gain control.
