Update: According to police, 36-year-old Paul Senat was arrested on Tuesday and charged with manslaughter in the death of Darryl Rudolph, father of former Florida State wideout Travis Rudolph. Authorities say that Senat was moving a gun off a shelf in a nightclub when the firearm went off. The bullet went through a wall and struck the 55-year-old Rudolph in the neck/back area while he was conducting repairs in another room.

Original story

The NFL Draft should be an exciting time for players like former Florida State wideout Travis Rudolph. Sadly, Rudolph and his family are instead going through an unspeakable tragedy.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office confirmed on Monday that Rudolph's father, Darryl, was killed in an accidental shooting on Friday morning. According to police, the elder Rudolph was doing repairs at a night club when he was hit in the back with a stray bullet that came through the wall of an adjacent room. The gun that fired the bullet was being moved off a shelf by a coworker, police say.

Rudolph died after being transported to the hospital. He was 55.

Rudolph led the Seminoles in receptions in each of the past two seasons and tallied 18 career receiving touchdowns. He gained national attention in August when a picture was posted of him eating lunch with a young boy, Bo Paske, who has autism. Rudolph's friendship with Paske became one of the feel-good college football stories of 2016.
