Man with machete shot dead in Colorado athletic facility near stadium
A machete-wielding man was shot by police on Colorado's campus Wednesday
Update: Colorado coach Mike MacIntyre appeared on the Jim Rome Show during the lockdown from Tuesday morning's incident. Per MacIntyre, everyone from the team to the staff was unharmed.
"As a matter of fact, I'm still on lockdown as I'm talking to you, we're not allowed to go up into our building," MacIntyre said. "But our protocol and everything worked exactly like it should and all of our athletes all of our employees and everybody is safe, it was really a scary situation no doubt."
MacIntyre added that his team was at practice in the morning at the time of the incident.
"First thing that went through my mind is when I heard I was in the middle of practice, they called down and said we couldn't leave practice, just to keep going. We saw these ambulances and sirens going by and my first reaction and everything was I hope everyone is safe in our building," MacIntyre said. "Because we still had employees in our building, especially our football employees there that are working on recruiting and all the different aspects and video, but all of them were OK, so I was just very concerned, and to make sure everybody was safe and ok, and everybody is, so that's very good."

The Daily Camera reported that the Champions Center was placed on lockdown Wednesday morning as a result of reports that an armed man was "menacing" people in and around the facility. His refusal to put the machete down resulted in shots being fired at the suspect and he was pronounced dead on the scene.
"We just know that he was directed to put the weapon down and refused, and it was at that time, for public safety, that we believe the shots were fired," CU police spokesman Scott Pribble said Wednesday.
The Champions Center is a newly expanded athletics and sports-medicine facility on Colorado's Boulder campus.
