Mark Richt jabs at Clemson's facilities while receiving the key to Miami
Trash talk about a slide is the best kind of trash talk
Miami football has always been better when it has talked a little trash, so I'm happy to see Mark Richt attempting to stir the pot a bit.
On Thursday, Richt was given a key to the city of Miami, and during his speech, he made sure to not only talk about what a great city it is, but to get in a little dig at Clemson as well.
"It's like no other place in America," Richt said. "Even in recruiting, we can sell things that no one else can sell. They can build all they want. They can have all they want. I mean, there's schools building slides and playgrounds in their building, just so they can have fun. I said 'we've got the beach. We don't have to build some slide to have fun.'"
How is that a shot at Clemson?
Well, Clemson recently unveiled a new $55 million football complex that includes a lot of fun amenities, including an indoor slide.
Of course, what Richt did not mention was that while Miami may have the beach, Clemson's facility does have sand volleyball courts, so that might cancel some of the beach out. I don't know for sure, as I am not a scientist.
Anyway, Miami and Clemson aren't scheduled to play one another this season, which means the only chance they have to meet is in the ACC championship. I'm sure both programs would be thrilled to slide into that game for a chance to win an ACC title.
