North Carolina quarterback Mitch Trubisky, who many NFL Draft prognosticators predict will be the first QB taken this spring and could even go No. 1 overall, decided to leave school early and declare for the draft Monday.

"After a lot of prayer and thought, I have decided to forgo my senior year and enter the NFL Draft," wrote Trubisky in an article at The Players' Tribune. "This has been the most difficult decision I've ever had to make. But no matter what happens next, I know I'll never experience something as special as being a Tar Heel."

A junior last season, Trubisky has only been a starter for one year in his college career, but made the most of it. He threw for 3,748 yards and 30 touchdowns for the Tar Heels last season, and he also took care of the ball, throwing only six interceptions.

His yardage and TD pass totals are North Carolina single-season records.

CBS Sports draft experts Rob Rang and Dane Brugler have Trubisky being chosen first and second in their current mock drafts.
